David Byrne is a Scottish-American musician, songwriter, and artist best known as the co-founder and lead singer of the influential band Talking Heads. Born on May 14, 1952, in Dumbarton, Scotland, Byrne moved to the United States as a child and later became a central figure in the New York art-punk scene of the late 1970s. With Talking Heads, Byrne helped pioneer a unique blend of rock, funk, world music, and avant-garde art, producing iconic albums like Remain in Light and Speaking in Tongues.
Beyond his work with Talking Heads, Byrne has had a prolific solo career, exploring diverse genres and collaborating with artists such as Brian Eno and St. Vincent. He is also an accomplished visual artist, filmmaker, and author, with projects spanning theater, film scores, and multimedia installations.
