Enjoying the show
Who can use an assistive listening device?
Everyone. While induction neck-loops are only compatible with hearing aids and cochlear implants that include a “T” switch, the ear speaker can be used by anyone who wants a volume boost.
Will the patrons next to me be disturbed by the assistive listening device?
No. ALDs are designed to deliver sound directly to the individual and operate on reserved radio frequencies that do not interfere with other devices or theatre equipment. Ear speakers and neck-loops are also designed to be discreet, so others may not even notice you are using one.
Are assistive listening devices available for every show and event at Saroyan Theatre?
Yes. Assistive listening devices are available regardless of the producer. They can be requested at any time during an event and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis free of charge. Devices can be obtained at the customer service area next to the box office inside the theatre lobby.
Is there a cost for using an assistive listening device?
No. Assistive listening devices are provided free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.
Do you clean your assistive listening devices?
Yes. We follow the manufacturer’s maintenance recommendations and use antimicrobial wipes to clean all earpieces and neck-loops before returning them to storage.
Do I need to sit in a specific place to use an assistive listening device?
No. Assistive listening devices work from any seat in the theatre.
I have a hearing aid or cochlear implant. Will an assistive listening device work for me?
Yes. Induction neck-loops are available for patrons who use hearing aids or cochlear implants with a “T” switch. Ask your audiologist whether your device has a telecoil (“T” switch) and how to use it with an assistive listening system.
The Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center welcomes guests with disabilities and their assistive animals. The Center abides by the regulations for ADA Service Animals set by the US Department of Justice.
